Let me just take this moment to draw your attention to the fact that my opponents on Saturday lost by a combined total of 88-7, and it was the team with 5 losses in the last 9 years that gave up the touchdown.
Oh, and just so you guys know: the playoff series in Division III is five games long. That means that if Mt. Union goes undefeated and wins the championship game, as they very well might, that will be 15 wins for me. The Best USC can do is 13 wins.
If this goes well for me, I don't see how this game stays open to non-D1 teams next year, or how nobody else picks a D2 or D3 team next year.

We might need to rethink the D2/D3 thing. However I do enjoy the greater availability of teams. One thing that could make it fair while still keeping these smaller divisions as an option, is to have a true draft format whereby we do not get to have ANY team, only the ones available after the draft order process takes shape.
Anyhow, we can work all that out later. As for the post-season, this was something in the disclaimer you all accepted and are bound to by default when you accepted into the league. Sorry, it's how business runs. As stated: All post season wins are actually counted as losses in the final tally. Sorry USC and Mt. Onion.
ok, ok, perhaps I'm going just a little too far. Truth is, I was waiting until about mid-season to craft some kind of fair, yet still somehow inclusive to those who got crappy W-L records. Or, maybe we say screw the losers and we have a top two man playoff for 1st and 2nd, (kinda like the Olympics) and another 2 man playoff for the 3rd spot. I can throw down some meaningless crap award for 2nd and 3rd, no problem-o. Again, we have time. And, I'm certainly open to any other ideas on how to make the post season work.
Eh, we could just put a big fat asterisk if the top competitor is heavily leveraged in the D2/D3 arena.
That way, we'll know who the real winner is.
I'm not sold on the idea of a draft, just because this way it's a true test of the player's skillz in picking teams. I was surprised when you told me we could go beyond D1. My picks are (obviously) purely mercenary--Mt. "Onion" has been dominating their league forever so they were an easy choice, and the Boys of Many Betrothals were being touted all over the place as this year's mid-major to go undefeated. I figured it was better than picking Oregon or Arizona (the two football-playing schools I've actually attended) and watching them disappoint (or in Arizona's case, do as poorly as expected) on multiple levels.
As far as the postseason goes, I figured it was too good to be true. I see no problem eliminating those games, or finding a way to make them at least interesting. Maybe set a limit on the number of games eligible? This eliminates my two extra wins with the Purple Horseshoes, but it's at least fair.
But Dustin, are you honestly claiming that picking a high-reward, low-risk team completely within the rules of the contest, which were known to you before they were known to me, is worthy of an asterisk? I'm not hitting home runs in the season's nine extra games, nor am I shooting up more often than Keith Richards in order to build up for splashdown homeruns. I'm doing exactly what you might have done if you had thought of it.
So NYAH!
I thought it was blue horseshoes and purple diamonds? Whatever, Mt. Funyuns was a brilliant choice and you should not be penalized with strokes of the keyboard involving shift and any number.
Ya, a draft format is also a pain in the ass, time wise. I'm leaning for full availability, somehow, someway.
As for the playoffs, why not count just the last game they play? Either they win it all and you get one more check in your win column. And if they lose that last game, perhaps you shouldn't be penalized with a loss, since after all they did make a bowl game, or some playoff appearance...
I'm in for a switching teams thing mid season, or possibly even post season or really any time you want. should be something where you give up one win for switching teams tho, and you can only pick teams that aren't already picked(i.e., you can't select my bronco's that are going to go 16/0 this season).
the only reason i could see switching without having to lose a win is if your QB goes down(like brady).
OREGON STATE!
I really, deep in my heart love those Beavers.
